Woke up around 9am and checked on my jeep from last
night...It really wasn't parked in a good place...but after I saw that it
was fine, I went back showered, updated my site and planned my day.
11:15 I'm out..
11:30 and bad news....Alcatraz is sold out till
Monday...Oh, well. Time to re-plan....But first...Yes, time to have
my first in/out burger. We don't have this in NY but it's huge
here. I don't know what the hype is. It was no better than,
let's say, a wendy's burger. And the fries were no good....anyway,
so, I've had my first one.

Ok, so I want to go to Alcatraz. I went to a tour
operator (scalper) and got a ticket. It's usually $13, but $35 will
apparently do. I go back and move my car from meter parking to a
parking lot and walk over to pier 41.
Walking thru Fisherman's Wharf here is much more
similar to South Street Seaport, but bigger. It really is about the
seafood here, but it's also a huge tourist trap. South Street
Seaport meets Times Square.

Now, I have to give the street performers credit
here. Every other city that I've been to that has street performers,
well, they have some talent. They can all dance or put on a
show...but not here. They don't bother. I think they are more
clever and entertaining here than anywhere else. There was a guy who
would crouch down by a fence behind some tree branches he would
carry. Whenever a person walked by he would yell boo and people
would freak out. Now everyone else who was watching was just
laughing up a storm. This is how he made money.
There were also freaks who just stood there and said
take a picture of us for money....It's the most lazy thing you can imagine
and it worked...

Anyway, I took the 12:45 boat over to Alcatraz. It
took about 15 minutes and it was just amazing to see. It's almost
not real. It's like you're watching a movie prop and I'll I can
think of is the movies Escape from Alcatraz, The Rock and Murder in The
First...

It didn't feel real until I went to the cell
blocks. I took a audio tour and walked around. It was amazing
to walk around and realize the history of this place. It was also
amazing to see how small these cells are....

4pm and I'm back to San Francisco....Time to go to
Haight Ashbury.
So, I've decided that L.A. is not the east coast
equivalent of NY...San Francisco is. And it's not as crowded
overall. Then again everyone left when the dot com fell apart.
I feel very at home here..
Haight Ashbury was about a 15 minute drive away.
What's amazing is for a city this big, there are more stops signs than
traffic lights and it seems to work....I parked right at the corner of
Haight and Ashbury and of course acted touristy and took a picture and
decided this will be my last picture here..

Ok, One more picture...I did go past the Fillmore...

Anyway, I walked around got something to eat and just
loved enjoying the freak show...It was great.
8pm and I went back to my hotel room. I need to
re-group. I went online and found out that Tommy Lee was playing
tonight. I took a quick shower and drove over. Ok, so this
sucks. The show is sold out and to honest I don't care about Tommy
Lee that much to scalp tickets. So, after hanging out for a little
while, I drove back and chilled in my room....I'm tired anyway...
