Fist off.... John Entwistle...We will miss you...You were the first great bass player. I remember my first Who concert. It was July 3rd 1989. I think it was the first or second time they reunited since the breakup in the early 80's. It was one of the best show's I've ever seen. To this day I think about this show. I do remember the show being everything that you would expect by a rock super group. But the best parts were when John Entwistle took the spotlight on the stage. The audience was always taken in by him. He didn't move at all but he knew how to play. John Entwistle and the Who rocked.....John, you will be missed... 10:30am and I'm out of my room... I take 90 East 11:05 Mountain Time and I'm somewhere in the Middle of South Dakota, so that means... 12:05 Central Time and I'm somewhere in the Middle of South Dakota I passed an exit in South Dakota that said this is the home of Laura Ingalls Wilder...can you see where my day is going here...boring... 2::45 Central Time and I'm on 29 South I love when the signs saying reduced speed up ahead due to construction, and means the new speed limit is 65. 4pm Central Time and I'm in Iowa 4:25 and I'm on Route 20 East Iowa is basically rolling green pastures...tons of corn, acres of farmland and tons of pigs...So many pigs as a matter of fact that on the local news on the radio, 500 sows were killed today due to a methane build up in the barn they were in. The methane caught a pilot light and BOOM.... Can you believe what I'm talking about today....Not very exciting as far as the country is concerned....It's really really nice to look at, but as far as fun or stuff to do...well... 6:30 I decide to stop and get a place to stay. I definitely didn't get enough sleep between two long drives like yesterday and today...Plus, I'm way ahead of plans, so I'm going to slow it down before it's all over.. I got something to eat the Subway next door....I asked the girl behind the counter what's there to do in town...and she gave the most popular answer I've gotten whenever I ask that question..."Nothing". I hope everyone who reads this learns a way to answer this question with something other that that....Have some pride in your town, find something cool to say. When someone like me drives by and asks you that very same question give them a good answer... C YA notes: there's a chain of gas stations here named "Kum & Go"....am I the only person who just thinks that's wrong? My recommendations of Who songs highlighting John Entwistle that you must listen to - The Real Me (this is on the album Quadrophenia - you must own this CD); Boris the Spider; Happy Jack.....and then listen to every Who song ever...or even his solo stuff... |
